John T. Doughtery

John Thomas Dougherty, 80, of Olathe formerly of Topeka passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 at Villa St. Francis in Olathe.

He was born December 31, 1929 in Topeka the son of William Emmett and Lucile D. (Becker) Dougherty where he lived the majority of his life.

John was a former member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

He is survived by a sister Rosmary Sorensen of Shingle Springs, CA, a sister-in-law Mary J. “Teta” Dougherty of Overland Park, eight nieces and nephews and ten great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother William E. Dougherty, a sister Ruthann Guth Owen and a niece Susan Guth.  John will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

John will lie in state from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at Mater Dei’s Holy Name Catholic Church where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Community Hospice or Villa St. Francis and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., 66603.
