Pamala Grace Mayo

Pamala Grace Mayo, of Shawnee, formerly of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City.

She was born April 9, 1953 in Topeka the daughter of Michael and Mary Jean (Stewart) Mayo.  Pamela received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Washburn University.

Pamala had been a registered nurse at Providence Place and at St. Francis Hospital.

Pamala enjoyed caring for others, traveling and sight seeing, opera, theatre and music.  She sang in choral groups in Topeka and Kansas City.  Pamala especially loved her family and spending time with her nieces and nephews. 

She was baptized a Roman Catholic.

Survivors include a brother Michael Mayo and his wife Sandy of Auburn, KS and a sister Kathleen McAferty of Kansas City, KS.

Pamala will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends until 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
