Roy A. Shivers, 87, died Monday, March 8th at Manor Care, Topeka, KS.
Roy was born April 13, 1922 in Vernon, TX the son of Arthur and Alice (Nolan) Shivers.
Roy was a Navy veteran of 26 years retiring as Chief. After his retirement he was a Electronics Instructor for Ryan Aeronautical and worked for Pruitt’s Appliance Repair.
Roy was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church since 1979 were he was an usher and active in church activities. He was also a member of The Fleet Reserve Association and AARP. In his younger years he enjoyed golfing and was a league bowler at Southwest Bowling Lanes.
On June 6, 1943 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Williams in Lockett, TX, she preceded him in death on November 25, 1997.
He is survived by his son David and his wife Sharon, Topeka, grandchildren, Michele Holley and Chuck Ratterree, Topeka, Matthew Shivers, St. Joseph, MO, Melissa and Joseph Martin, Oceanside, CA, Mark Ryan Shivers and Chris Delgada, San Francisco, CA Great grandchildren, Bryanna, Dylan, Taylor and Ryan Holley, Topeka, Parker and Ethan Martin, Oceanside, CA. Siblings, Donald Ray Shivers and Wesley Shelton Shivers both of Lubbock, TX. Emma Lou Clark, Little Rock, AR.
Mr. Shivers was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 10th at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church, 2915 SW 8th Ave.
