Phyllis Ann (Roeckers) Hendrickson

November 24, 1934 — February 24, 2010

Phyllis Ann (Roeckers) Hendrickson, 75, Topeka, died Wednesday, February 24th at Midland Hospice House. 

 

She was born in Downers Grove, Illinois on November 24, 1934 the daughter of Arnold F. and Marion A. (Stein) Roeckers.  Phyllis attended elementary school in Downers Grove, Illinois and Richmond (Ks.) High School from 1948 to 1951, and graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1952.

 

Phyllis was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  She enjoyed watching KU basketball and attending Hayden High School athletic events.  She also loved gardening, playing cards and traveling.

 

Phyllis worked as a Receptionist/Secretary for Missouri Valley Steel, Sears and the Topeka Presbyterian Manor.  She was also a homemaker.

 

She married Henry M. Hendrickson at St. Therese’s Catholic Church in Richmond, Kansas on July 20, 1953.  He survives of the home.  She is also survived by her children, Alan Hendrickson of Topeka, Keith (Mary Kay) Hendrickson of Topeka, Jeff (Janie) Hendrickson of Topeka, Jim (Shari) Hendrickson of Olathe, Ks., and Ann (John) Janca of Topeka, nine grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Hendrickson, Jeremy Hendrickson, Kailyn Hendrickson, Tyler Hendrickson, Julie (Luke) Domme, Jessi (Kasey) Clark, Jenni Hendrickson, James Hendrickson, and Sarah Hendrickson, one great granddaughter, Joele Hendrickson and one great grandson Kelson Hendrickson.  She is also survived by a brother Robert Roeckers of Raymore, MO., and two sisters, Colleen Pattison of Lenexa, Ks. and Evelyn (Vernon) Pickert of Gardner, Kansas, nine nieces and nephews.

 

Phyllis will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hayden High School, Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
