Lorene Marie Loeffler

April 15, 1928 — February 16, 2010

Lorene Marie Loeffler, 81, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at St. Francis Health Center Emergency Room.

She was born  on April 15, 1928 in Concordia the daughter of Joseph and Evelyn M. (Chartier) Deneault.  Being the oldest of twelve Lorene helped raised her siblings.

Lorene enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a volunteer at St. Francis Health Center.

Lorene was a member of Mater Dei Parish and the auxiliary of Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW.

She was married to Dewain D. Loeffler on April 25, 1946 in Aurora, KS.  He preceded her in death on January 23, 1994.  A grandson James Franklin Broxterman  preceded her in death in 1985, she was also preceded in death by  siblings Ernest, Eugene, Louis, Larry, LeRoy and Helen.

Survivors include a son Stephen Joseph Loeffler and his wife Tammy, two daughters Imogene M. Nottingham and Lisa Ann Blankenship all of Topeka, five grandchildren, Jean Ann Broxterman, Suzette Shields, Stephen Dewain Loeffler, Bradley James Blankenship, Alexis Marie Blankenship and three great grandchildren, Joseph Mills, April Coffman and Brady Loeffler.  A brother Frank Deneault of Salem, OR and four sisters, Lea Rott, Eve Budreau both of Concordia, Shirley Paulsen of Papillion, NE and Norma Gregory of Spencer, MA also survive.

Lorene will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  A parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Mater Dei’s Holy Name Church.  Entombment will follow in Mount Hope Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Auxiliary of Philip Billard Post #1650 or the Veterans Administration Hospital Activities Fund sent in care of the funeral home, 800 SW 6th AVE., 66603.
