Angelina Valdivia, 87, of Topeka, died January 5, 2010 at St. Francis Health Center.
She was born in Leon, GTO, Mexico on May 5, 1922 the daughter of Rito and Leonila (Mata) Valdivia Sr.
Angelina was a homemaker. She loved to work outside in her yard, vegetable and flower gardening, crocheting and making tortillas. She was a volunteer for many years for the Fiesta Mexicana.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Altar Society at the church.
Angelina was married to Adalberto Valdivia on July 24, 1948 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1996. She was also predeceased by a brother, Tony Valdivia and two sisters, Frances Hernandez and Herlinda Holmes. Survivors include a son, Ralph Valdivia, a daughter Martha Rocha and husband Joe Sr. of the home, six grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Jaime Lynn, Jacqueline, Janelle and Joshua and six great grandchildren, Antonio, Onyessah, Cailiana, Alyssa, Valencia, and Giovanni. She is also survived by eight sisters, Victoria Campos, Hazel (John) Rocha, Maria (Tony) Chavez, Lucy (Calixto) Martin, Carmen Torres, Susan (John) Perez, Monica (David) Matchett, and Maryann (Carlos) Tejada, three brothers, Rito (Bertha) Valdivia, Angel (Mary) Valdivia and Raymundo Valdivia all of Topeka.
Mrs. Valdivia will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday after 4:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary and Vigil will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Angelina Valdivia memorial fund to be designated at a later date.
