Howard Daniel “Dan” Killam, Jr., 66, of Topeka, passed away, Friday, November 27, 2009 at McCrite Plaza.
He was born January 13, 1943 in Topeka the son of Howard Daniel and Eunice (Clifton) Killam. Dan served in the United States Army and the Air Force Reserve.
Dan was a Licensed Practical Nurse and Certified Surgical Technician. He was employed by Topeka Ear Nose & Throat before he retired.
He enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, scanning family photos and memorabilia into a computer. Dan also enjoyed designing and sending personalized birthday cards to family and friends.
Dan was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.
He was married to Barbara Marten on June 27, 1970 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include, his mother Eunice Killam of Topeka, son Steven (Bridget) Killam of Topeka, daughter Melody Killam and her finance James W. Bagnall of Colony, two brothers, Ray H. (Sharon) Killam of Overland Park and Roy Eugene Killam of Topeka and two sisters, Edith Houser of Topeka and Lois (David) Sweatt of Topeka. A granddaughter Olivia Killam also survives. Dan was preceded in death by his father Howard, brother Philip Killam, sister Ruth Ester and grandson Xavier Killam.
Dan was cremated. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Catholic Church where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
