Felix Reyes Gonzales, 71, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. Francis Heath Center.
He was born February 21, 1938 in Topeka the son of John D. and Juana (Reyes) Gonzales.
Felix was employed by Topeka Intercity Transit for twenty-nine years before he retired.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, football and attending church.
Felix was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the GI Forum.
He was married to Veronica Harrison of July 7, 1990 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Diana Camarillo and Patricia Arredondo, and Jasman A. Gonzales all of Topeka, four sons, Felix A., Leonard A., Peter T. and Orlando R. Gonzales all of Topeka, three brothers, Leo Gonzales, Salvador Ortiz and Alfonso Gonzales all of Topeka, and a sister Rachel Root of Topeka. Fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by siblings, Vivanno and Gabriel Gonzales, Rosemary Espinoza, Felicia Chavez, Mary Triano and Beatrice Hernandez, a grandson Leonard Gonzales Jr. and a great grandson, Javier Gonzales.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The casket will remain closed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
