Mary Kathryn Gill, 94, of Topeka, died November 7, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room.
She was born on September 12, 1915 in Bankston, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Verna Lee (Atkinson) O’Connor.
Kathryn was united in marriage to John W. Gill in Waterloo, Iowa on June 15, 1939. They lived together in Topeka until John’s death on June 15, 1988.
Kathryn enjoyed playing bridge. She and her husband enjoyed vegetable gardening. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka where she attended mass regularly and was one of the first Eucharistic Minister’s at the church.
She is survived by her son James F. Gill of Lawrence, Kansas, a granddaughter Kathryn E. “Katie” Gill who is a student at Creighton University, and one sister, Ann Marie Schmitt and her husband Jim of Dyersville, Iowa.
Kathryn will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
