Randall Leo “Randy” Wunder, 50, of Topeka, was pronounced dead on November 3, 2009 at his home.
He was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 21, 1959 the son of Thomas and Beulah (Roark) Wunder. Randy was a 1977 graduate of Hayden High School.
Randy served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS John F. Kennedy from 1977 to 1981. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He worked as an electrician and as a certified nurses aide.
Randy was a member of the Catholic Church and attended Mater Dei Holy Name Church. He enjoyed fishing and camping and was an avid K-State fan.
Randy married Beverly Wurtz in Topeka, Kansas in 1982. They later divorced and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister Kathleen Wunder Johnson and two nephews.
He is survived by a daughter, Melanie Wunder (Brandon) Bezner of Olathe, Kansas, his siblings, Mark Wunder of Topeka, Barbara (Randy) Tabor of Topeka, Beverly (Jim Prentice) Wunder of Topeka, Marilyn (Charles) Filkins of Berryton, Anita (Tad) Dudding of Topeka, Stanley (Connie) Wunder of Carbondale, Paula (Shannon Wunder) Wunder of Berryton, Trudy (Kevin Corke) Wunder of Topeka, Kelly (Tommy) Lopez of Topeka, Jim (Jennifer) Wunder of Shawnee, 37 nieces and nephews.
Randy will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. where a rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends until 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Mater Dei Holy Name Parish. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
