Alice N. Rangel

Alice N. Rangel, 63, of Topeka, died October 3, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Topeka, Kansas on January 4, 1946 the daughter of Marcelino and Jennie (Zuniga) Tavares.

Alice was a Dental Technician for various labs in Topeka and had most recently been with Heumann and Associates Dental Laboratories.

Alice will be remembered for her love of life and the fact that she was always a giver, eager to help others.  She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she volunteered in several capacities especially involved in the Fiesta Mexicana.  Alice also was a volunteer for Doorstep, Dovetail and the Christmas Bureau Christmas Store.  She was an avid KU Jayhawk fan.

Alice married John M. Rangel in Topeka, Kansas on April 25, 1964.  He survives.  She is also survived by two sons, Michael S. Rangel and wife Concepcion of  N.C., and Timothy R. Rangel and wife Margo of Topeka, one brother, Gene Tavares of Topeka and four grandchildren, Justin, Kendra, Juan and Alexandra.

She will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
