Wlburn DeWayne (Sawdust) Stearman, 84, of Topeka was born January 21, 1925 to Marvin and Opal Stearman in Hooker, Oklahoma. He served his country in the Army Air Corp in the China/Burma/India Theater of World War II. Shortly after his return to Wichita, Kansas he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Turner on June 22, 1946. He was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1985. DeWayne’s hobbies included woodworking, antique and classic cars and crafts. He was a member of Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene, Transportation Carmen’s Union and the Sacred Order of the Golden Spoke. He is survived by his wife Mary of Topeka two sons, Tim of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado and Terry of Topeka, two beloved daughters-in-law, Jane of Green Mountain Falls and Barb of Topeka and four grandchildren, Staci Zaker, Jamie Clay, Amy Blosser and Tanner Stearman, three grandsons-in-law, Josh Zaker, Andy Clay and John Blosser, as well as four great-grandsons and a brother, Reverend Samuel Stearman of Bethany Oklahoma. A sister Lura Jean Howe preceded him in death. Death occurred August 13 at Midland Hospice in Topeka. DeWayne will lie in state Monday, August 17th at Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene after 12:30 p.m. where the family will receive friends until the service hour at 2:00 p.m. Military honors will be provided by an honors team from Fort Riley.
