Gregory James Roy, 48, of Topeka, died July 26, 2009 at Midland Hospice House surrounded by his family.
He was born in Rochester, New Hampshire on October 8, 1960 the son of Michael Edward and Lorraine J. (Gregoire) Roy.
Gregory was a member of the Roman Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and going to the casino.
He worked as an Administrative Specialist for the SRS Office with the State of Kansas where he was employed for nearly 30 years.
Survivors include his son Michael James Roy and wife Allison and his grandson Dylan Roy all of Minot AFB in Grand Forks, North Dakota, his parents, Lorraine Roy of Sanford, Maine, Michael Roy of Topeka, his brothers, Michael Roy of Overland Park, John Roy and Peter Roy both of Topeka and Marc Roy of Sanford, Maine, a sister, Lori-Anne Hase of Silver Lake, Kansas and a very dear friend Ann Mehrhof of Kansas City, Mo.
Gregory will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Mater Dei Assumption Church. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care Inc. or to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
