Catherine H. Norton, 52, of Topeka, died July 2, 2009 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky where she was undergoing cancer treatment.
She was born in Miami, Florida on September 21, 1956, the daughter of Daniel Joseph and Betty Catherine (Blake) Norton.
Cathy graduated from Santa Fe Junior College in Gainesville, Florida. She was a merchandiser for The Home Depot and had been a sales representative for Continental Research for 17 years where she achieved several sales awards.
Cathy will be remembered for her love of family, friends and animals. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis, photography, collecting and polishing rocks and minerals. Cathy also enjoyed doing home repairs and repairing automobiles.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: a sister, Nancy Goodall and husband Bob of Topeka, brother, Daniel Norton of Topeka, her niece, Paula Goodall and great nephews, Daniel and Noah Goodall, her partner, Cherelle Ireland and her children, Caitlin and Samuel, her loving pets, Drexel, Scout and Puddin and her best friend, Kate Scarbrough as well as a large circle of loving friends.
A Memorial Visitation and celebration of her life will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church followed by a luncheon at the church. Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested in her memory to St. Francis Cancer Art Therapy Group, the CAT Association or Helping Hands Humane Society and sent in care of the funeral home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
