Mary H. (Brucken) Wessel, 92, of Topeka, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009 at St. Francis Health Center.
She was born April 16, 1917 in Kelly, KS, the daughter of Edward A. and Thresia F. (Sextro) Brucken.
Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society at Church.
She was married to Raymond H. Wessel on May 22, 1946 at Holton. He preceded her in death April 22, 2004.
Survivors include; two sons, John R. (Gaye Lee) and LeRoy (Julia) Wessel both of Plainville, four daughters, Ruth (Ralph “Whitey”) Appelhanz of Topeka, Marjorie Andrew of Aurora, CO, Mary J. (Kirby) Dennis of Topeka and Arlene Evans of Merritt Island, FL, one brother Lawrence Brucken of Soldier and one sister Dorothy Benoit of Rossville. Twenty grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Mary will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where an Altar Society rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. followed by the parish at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
