Rosann Etzel

November 7, 1939 — June 12, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Topeka on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. for Rosann Etzel who left to be with our Lord on Friday, June 12, 2009 from Midland Hospice in Topeka.  She will lie in state at the church after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009 where an altar society  rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. and the parish rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. followed by family visitation.

 

Rosann was born November 7, 1939 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Marguerite (Best) Etzel.  She graduated from Hayden High School in 1958, and attended Clark’s School of Business in Topeka.  Rosann worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Topeka for 34 years before retiring in 1992.  Following her retirement, Rosann was a seasonal employee at the Kansas Department of Revenue.

 

Rosann was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Topeka.  Her life was dedicated to giving and serving her church, family and others.  She was the primary caregiver and a loving companion to her 100-year-old mother.  She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Henry Etzel, Jr. and Kenneth Etzel, Sr.  Survivors include her mother; two brothers Robert Etzel (Mary Jane) of Bella Vista, Arkansas; and Dennis Etzel (Grace Eberwein) of Topeka; and sister-in-law Ronna Etzel of Topeka.  She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, 14 grand nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Parish or Midland Hospice and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
