Martha M. Urban

Martha M. Urban, 83, of Topeka, passed away Monday May 4, 2009 at St. Francis Health Center.

She was born May 11, 1925 at Hays, the daughter of John and Theresa (Gaschler) Koppel.  Martha and her husband Robert owned and worked a farm in the Perry-Oskaloosa area for many years before retiring and moving to Topeka in 1986.

Martha was a former member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Perry and a current member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society at the church.

She was married to Robert H. Urban on September 28, 1957 at Perry.  He preceded her in death on June 9, 1989.

Survivors include: one brother William Koppel in Maryland and three sisters, Theresa Adams in Santa Monica, CA, Clara Parker in Tupelo, Oklahoma and Margie Scott in Colorado Springs, Co.  Martha was preceded in death by siblings, Marie, Katie, Barbara, Joseph, Elizabeth and Anna.

Urban will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where an Altar Society rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. followed by the parish rosary at 6:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Perry.
