Ann Chappell

Ann Chappell, 80, of Topeka, died April 25, 2009 at Homestead Retirement Community.

She was born in Topeka, Kansas on May 10, 1928 the daughter of Harry and Florence (Beauvais) Middleton Sr.

Ann was a 1946 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University.  She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Ann was a homemaker.  She enjoyed interior decorating, gardening and traveling. 

She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. 

Ann married Philip Racknor Chappell on April 15, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on September 27, 2007.

Survivors include her two daughters, Kathleen Mustain of Lenexa, Ks., Amy Scanlan and husband John of Jacksonville, Fla., her son David W. Chappell and wife Cathy of Penryn, CA., three grandchildren, Shannon Dick, Phillip Chappell and Claire Chappell, three great grandchildren, John Michael Sword, Karina Mitchell and Nicholas Shirley, a brother, Harry J. Middleton Jr. of Austin, Tx., and sister Joan Schooley of Topeka.

Mrs. Chappell will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
