Theodora Vega

Theodora Vega, 103, of Topeka, died April 19, 2009 at Brandon Woods in Lawrence, Kansas.

She was born in Mexico on March 28, 1906 the daughter of Jose and Eleuteria (Moreno) Araujo.

Theodora was an egg-breaker for Seymour Packing Co. and worked in housekeeping for the State Office Building as well as being a homemaker.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe church. L.U.L.A.C. Senior Center, Legion of Mary and the Altar Society at the church.

Theodora enjoyed crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.

She married Anarbol H. Vega on June 23, 1927 in Logan, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on January 19, 1986.

She is survived by her children, Henry A. (Celia) Vega of Irvine, Calif., Josephine (Thomas) Ramirez of Lawrence, Jesse “Chuey” (Linda) Vega of Jacksonville, Fla., and Phyllis Allen of Mesa, AZ., many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Theodora will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where the Parish Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
