Janet Lea Kennedy

Janet Lea Kennedy, 67, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, April, 15, 2009 at her home.

She was born December 22, 1941 in Topeka the daughter of James E. and Genevieve M. (Allen) Bowman.  Janet was a 1959 graduate of Hayden High School.

Janet enjoyed interior decorating, crafts, cooking and reading.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. 

Janet was married to Charles W. Kennedy on April 28, 1962 in Topeka.  He survives.  A brother James E. Bowman III preceded her in death on November 10, 2000.

Survivors beside her husband include:  four sons, Michael Kennedy and his wife Danielle, Patrick Kennedy and his wife Carey, Matthew Kennedy and his wife Patti, Daniel Kennedy, and a daughter Kathleen Kennedy.  Grandchildren; Stephen, Elizabeth, Alex, Joseph and Maria also survive.

Janet was cremated.  A memorial visitation will be held after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Parish prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Council #4254 rosary at 6:30 p.m...  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Inurnment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
