Carmen Llamas, 82, of Topeka, died April 11, 2009 at Midland Hospice House surrounded by her family.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on May 29, 1926 the daughter of Candalario and Modesta (Cervantez) Guerrero.
Carmen was a homemaker, a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and liked to play BINGO. She especially loved spending time with her family.
She married Ruben Llamas in Topeka, Kansas on April 6, 1949. He predeceased her on February 11, 1997.
Survivors include: four sons, Michael, Richard, Ernest and Ramon Llamas all of Topeka, eight daughters, Dolores Rosado of Elgin, S.C., Gloria Gonzales of Hobbs, N.M., Teresa Llamas of Topeka, Esperanza Llamas of Topeka, Natalie Jones of Ill., Christine Smith of Topeka, Olga Jones of Topeka, Margaret Llamas of Ft. Worth, TX., two brothers, Richard and Candido Guerrero both of Topeka, and five sisters, Lupe Mitchell, Sarah Mosqueda, Rachel Rodriguez, Rebecca Guerrero and Carol Guerrero all of Topeka, 28 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Guerrero and a sister, Margaret Gutierrez.
Carmen will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday after 4:00 p.m. where a Parish Vigil Service will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
