Robert Lee “Bob” Doty, 64, of Topeka, died April 7, 2009 at Midland Hospice House surrounded by his family.

Bob was born in Topeka, Kansas on May 26, 1944 the son of Earl Edward and Margaret Hazel (Reser) Doty. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a Ground Safety Crewman from 1964 to 1968 and in the Reserves until November 20, 1970.

Bob owned Doty Upholstery until 1993 and a few years later owned and operated TAFCO Upholstery.

He enjoyed blues music, traveling and especially his grandchildren.

Bob was a member of American Legion Post #400, St. Matthew Catholic Church and was an active volunteer for the Topeka catholic churches helping with their needs especially in the upholstery field.

He married Lillian M. D’Auteuil in Lisbon, Maine on January 27, 1968.  She preceded him in death on October 13, 1992.  He married Roberta (King) Perron in Topeka, Kansas on May 9, 2003, she survives of the home.  Other survivors include:  his children; Julie D’Auteuil of Rocheport, MO., Andreux Doty and Patrick (Andrea) Doty all of Topeka; step children, Robert (Lisa) Perron of Iowa, Connie (Tom) Osterhaus of Tecumseh, Leo (Laura) Perron and Kathy Perron all of Topeka; eighteen grandchildren; and his siblings; Earleen (Dom) Constantino of Illinois, Jim (Mary) Doty of Topeka, Larry (Jeanne) Doty of Tecumseh, Gary (Virginia) Doty of St. Marys, Donald (JoAnn) Doty of Tecumseh, Betty Jo Slater of Topeka, Rodney (Gracey) Doty of Topeka, Monte Kay and Ann Prentiss of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Enyart and Peggy Ann Doty.

Mr. Doty will lie in state at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Sunday after 5:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  A Parish Vigil Service will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church.  Interment will be in Rossville Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #400.
