Eva Vaughn

Eva Lucille Vaughn, 86, of Wakarusa, died April 4, 2009 at Brandon Woods in Lawrence, Kansas.

She was born in Allen, Kansas on February 10, 1923 the daughter of William Cutler and Eda Alice Mae (Kayser) Day.

Eva attended the Blake’s Beauty School and was the owner of the Auburn Beauty Salon for many years prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Valley Club and the TOPS Club.

Eva enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, gardening and raising farm animals.

She married Andrew Joseph Vaughn on June 3, 1950 in Emporia.  He died on June 4, 1989.  She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Emily Edgar, a grandson Kevin Vaughn, two brothers Clifford and Leslie Day, and a sister Lillian Rowley.

Survivors include her five daughters, Paula Larsen of Auburn, Bonnie Vaughn of Auburn, Mona (Steve) Wyatt of Americus, Mary Vaughn of Wakarusa, Lauree Edgar of Wakarusa, one son Joseph (Sally) Vaughn of Blue Mound and a step-son Andrew Joseph (Lydia) Vaughn of New Port Ritchey, FL, one sister Eda Mae Fitchett of Lindsborg, one brother Frederick Day of Dodge City.  Also surviving are her twenty-one grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Eva will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church.  Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Bushong Cemetery in Bushong, Kansas.
