Marion Lierz

Marion F. Lierz, 82, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009 at her home in the care of her family.

She was born on November 10, 1926 in Seneca, Kansas the daughter of Claude E. and Ada Mae (Gaston) Rucker.

Marion worked for Drs. Powers, Preston and Kirkegaard for twenty-five years.  She did volunteer work after her retirement.  She loved fishing and boating and bowled on two leagues until 2007.

Marion married Ralph Lierz on April 14, 1947 in Seneca, Kansas.  He passed away on October 29, 1999.  She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Rucker and Kathryn Olberding and a brother, Bill Rucker.

Survivors include her three daughters, Cheryl (Bob) McNish, Nancy (Tony) Garcia,  and Donna Colboch all of Topeka, six grandchildren; Mindi (Brett) Lundberg, Scott McNish, Anthony (Heather) Garcia, Sarah McBurney, Kyle (Krystal) Colboch and Marlina Garcia, nine great grandchildren; Caitlin, Aiden, Kylie, Hannah, Alexis, Garrett, Corinne, Tyler and Alyssa.  two sisters, Virginia Moore of Topeka and Norma Kennon (Cliff) of Gravois Mills, Mo., sister-in-law, Kay “Sam” Rucker of Topeka and her beloved dogs, Snuggles and Peanuts. 

Marion will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Doss officiating.  Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, Heart of America Hospice or the American Lung Association and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
