Lucia Cerca

Lucia Romero De Cerca, 84, of Topeka, died March 19, 2009 at her home.

She was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico on December 13, 1924 the daughter of Pablo and Rosario (Nuñez) Romero.  She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Lucia married Apolinar Cerca in Mexico on February 14, 1939.  He preceded her in death on November 11, 1995.  She was also predeceased by two sons, Gonzalo Cerca on March 14, 2008 and Pedro Cerca on December 20, 2008.

Survivors include two sons, Pablo Cerca (Mary) and Jose Alberto Cerca (Teresa) all of Topeka, four daughters, Ignacia Martinez (Angel) of Topeka, Rosario Miller of Topeka, Lucia Cerca Larios (Alberto) of Dallas, Texas, Maria de Jesus Cerca ( Rafael Origuela) of Springdale, Arkansas, a sister, Modesta Romero of Mercedes, Texas, 29 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by three special nieces Rosa Maria Mora-Romero, Maria Trinidad Mendez and Martha Alicia Romero Nuñez.

Mrs. Cerca will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Sunday after 4:00 p.m. where a Legion of Mary Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Parish Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 12:00 noon at the church.
