William W. “Bill” Rardin, 79, of Topeka, died March 17, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 9, 1929 the son of Charles J. and LaDema E. (Williams) Rardin. Bill graduated from Estherville High School in Estherville, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa. He retired on December 1, 1994 from the State of Kansas where he was employed for 14 years. Previously he had worked as an Electronics Repairman for Ed Marlings Store for 20 years. Bill was an avid reader and a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #4254 at the church. He married Mary E. Welch at Assumption Church on September 22, 1951. She survives of the home. Bill is also survived by his seven children; Mary L. Rardin, OSB, M.D. of Atchison, Edward C. Rardin of Topeka, Catherine A. Colpitts of Topeka, Joseph M. Rardin and wife Susan of Flower Mound, TX., Margaret “Peggy” Brown of Lewisville, TX., Jane A. Gallion of Topeka, and Anne E. Davis of Overland Park, Ks., two brothers, Arthur E. Swanson of Pine Ridge, PA., and Jack W. Rardin of Topeka, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mr. Rardin will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Council #4254 Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
