Maude Sheetz

July 4, 1916 — January 27, 2009

Maude Sheetz, 92, of Topeka, died January 27, 2009 at a Stormont-Vail Hospital.

 

Maude was born on a farm in Linn County, Kansas on July 4, 1916 the daughter of Harrison I. and Bessie Opal (Mendel) Stainbrook.

 

She was a talented musician  who played the piano, a gifted homemaker and enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends.  Maude and her husband were members of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

 

Maude married James Sheetz at the Assumption Rectory in Topeka, Kansas on October 29, 1942.  She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, her sister Virginia Byerley of Parker, Kansas; 46 nieces and nephews and many friends.  She will be greatly missed by all, especially her husband.

 

She will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
