Anthony W. (Tony) Gonzales passed away January 11, 2009. Tony was born to Inez and Jose Gonzales on December 17, 1926 in Nortonville, Kansas and grew up in Osage City, Ks. On July 18, 1967 he married Patricia Frehe.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; daughters Cindy Moyer (Tom) of Topeka, Kathy Geels (Whit Haworth) of Sugarland, Tx., Denise Van Sickel (John) of Lawrence, Ks., Chris Mendoza (Randy) of Topeka; grandchildren, Stephen Hernandez, Melissa Hernandez, Jamie Votaw, Joel Geels, Darin Seidel, Alaina Mendoza, Angelo Mendoza; five great grandchildren; brothers Vincent. Sr. and Julius Gonzales both of Topeka; and nieces and nephews.
Tony served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and the Bicentennial Post #225 of the American Legion at Ozawkie.
He retired from the V.A. Hospital in 1983. Tony enjoyed camping with his wife and three dogs.
Tony will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 13th, after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. and a Parish Vigil will be at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment with military honors will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
