Annamarie “Swede” Foster, 78, of Topeka, died December 28, 2008 at her home.
She was born on March 11, 1930 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Peter and Anna (Rhode) Kaberline.
Swede was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Firefighters Auxiliary, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Post #1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She also was a volunteer for the MDA.
Swede married Thomas “Tom” Foster on June 21, 1948 at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka, he survives. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. She is also survived by five children and their spouses, Craig and Janice Foster of Bunker Hill, W. Va.; Amie and Edwin “Amos” Harrison of Overbrook; Brent and Sandy Foster of Topeka; Suzy and Greg Swanson of Topeka; and Neal and Ronda Foster of Topeka; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Rosemary, Elizabeth, Emily Jean and Virginia.
She will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
