Lawrence David Madrid, age 56, of Topeka, passed away at his home Wednesday, November 19, 2008.
He was born December 22, 1951 in Topeka, the son of Ernest and Connie (Osequeda) Madrid. Lawrence was a 1969 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Kaw Valley Technical School for civil engineering and photography. He was also a scout leader for his son’s Boy Scout troop #610.
Lawrence was an Engineering Technician Specialist for the Kansas Department of Transportation for over thirty-seven years.
His hobbies included gardening, photography, baking, drawing and ceramics.
Lawrence was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He was married to Deborah Rodriguez in Topeka. They later divorced.
Survivors include; a son Jonny Madrid of Topeka, a step-daughter Maria Angelic Cisneros Topeka, a brother Phillip X. (Rose) Madrid of Topeka, and a sister Gloria (Silvio) Mendez of Kansas City, KS. He was preceded in death by a brother Michael, a sister and his parents.
Lawrence will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A parish rosary will be offered at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Madrid Memorial Fund to be designated by the family at a later date and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.
