Irene Priddy, 96, formerly of Topeka, died November 15, 2008 at Research Hospital in Belton, Missouri.
She was born in Wakarusa, Kansas on November 18, 1911 the daughter of Sims Vernon and Lillie Mae (Sage) Firestone.
Irene was a homemaker and worked for a time at her father’s bank, the Guaranty State Bank. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing the piano and cooking.
Irene moved from Topeka to Mountain Home, Arkansas about 35 years ago. While in Topeka she was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Mountain Home.
She married Hugh Hall Priddy in Topeka, Kansas on September 5, 1930. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1990. She was also predeceased by six children; Jacquline, Jerry, Stephen, Stanley, Mary Jane and Mike Priddy, a grandchild and four siblings.
Survivors include her five sons: Larry Priddy and wife Norma of Peculiar, Mo., Jim Priddy and wife Viola of Batesville, AR, Tom Priddy of Topeka, Craig Priddy and wife Nancy of Kansas City, Mo., Joe Priddy and wife Christine of Topeka, two daughters; Marty Minihan and husband Francis of Blaine, Ks., and Kathy Priddy of Coldwater, Ks., one sister, Sarah “Sadie” Orr of Scottsdale, AZ., nineteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Irene will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Mater Dei’s Holy Name Parish. Private inurnment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
