Karen R. Henao, 65, of Topeka, died November 12, 2008 at a local hospital.
She was born at Christ Hospital in Topeka, Kansas on January 28, 1943 the daughter of Lowell and Helen (Burns) Comfort. Karen graduated from Topeka High School Class of 1961.
She had worked several jobs including Social Director for the Stratoline Club, Forbes Air Force Base, Lydiona’s, Richard Distributors and Stanley’s Flowers.
Karen was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly Dyan Henao in 1967. She married Marcelino (Chick) Henao on July 17, 1965 in Lyndon, KS, who survives of the home. She is also survived by two sons, Kevin of The Woodlands, TX, and Kristopher of Topeka, and a daughter Katherine Jeannneret of Topeka, seven grandchildren, Austin, Ashlynn, Karrington, Kerrigan, Kyle, Kris, and Kourtney and a great grandchild Jorden Jeanneret. She is also survived by her mother, Helen Comfort of Topeka, brother Jon of Topeka, and her extended family, Jesse and Vicky Gutierrez, Tom and Rachel Petts, Jesse Jr. and Sarah Cook, Anthony Domonic and Santiago and the entire Gutierrez Family.
Karen will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday, November 16th, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends and a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 17th, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Karen will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will be served after the burial.
