Melvin W. Creason

April 6, 1915 — September 9, 2008

 

Melvin W. Creason, 93, of Topeka, died September 9, 2008 at the V.A. Hospital in Leavenworth.

 

He was born in Cooksville, Missouri on April 6, 1915 the son of Leland Creason and Martha (Barnard) Creason Pickles.

 

Melvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He worked for the V.A. Hospital for 32 years, retiring in 1976. 

 

He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Philip Billard Post #1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 

Melvin married Mary G. Williams in Topeka, Kansas on June 1, 1950.  She survives of the home.  He is also survived by a son Paul Creason of  Powderly, TX, two daughters, Regina Nicol and husband John of Ozawkie, and Pamela Reynolds of Gilbert, AZ., seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

 

Mr. Creason was preceded in death by a son Charles Creason in July of 1988.

 

Melvin will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. followed by a parish rosary at 6:00.  The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 Saturday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Church or Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, 66603.
