Louise D. Boeckman

June 5, 1933 — July 16, 2008

Louise D. Boeckman, 75, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at a St. Louis, MO hospital after battling an illness that no human being should have to withstand.  Louise always had a smile, a kiss, a positive attitude and was a pillar of strength for her family.  She is now with her maker and is perfect in every way.

Lou was born June 5, 1933 in Harris, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Rene (Slinkard) Karlson.  Five siblings preceded her in death;  Don, Wes, Ike, Eileen and Alta.  From a previous marriage Louise had two children, David (Linda Jo) Frear and granddaughter Sophia, and Judy (Wayne) Lay all of Topeka.

In 1978 Lou met her soul mate, Les Boeckman.  The families were joined with Les’ children, Kelli (Jimmy) Clark and granddaughter Jaime and Brenda Boeckman all of Topeka.

Louise was employed by  Radiology and Nuclear Medicine until her retirement in 1994.  She spent hours in the kitchen baking and constantly searching for new recipes.  Her family looked forward to being her “taste testers”.

Mrs. Boeckman will lie in state on Monday  at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.  Services will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

We will miss our mom, wife, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and best friend always.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Helping Hands Humane Society or to Midland Hospice Care Inc. and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 West Sixth Ave., Topeka, Kansas  66603.
