Emil Lawrence “Larry” Arp, 84, Topeka, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008 at Stormont-Vail Health Care.
Larry was born October 13, 1923 in Davenport, IA the son of Emil A. and Anaise Guettier Arp.
He served in the United States Armed Forces from 1941 to 1963. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Larry later retired from Kansas Building Trades Health and Welfare Fund.
Larry was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 4254 where he served as Past Grand Knight and the James W. Gibbons Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
He married Romona M. Reilly at the Church of the Assumption on February 8, 1958. She survives of the home. He is also survived by one son, Michael E. Arp of Lawrence, two daughters Ann Marie Arp of Topeka and Linda E. Hatcher and her husband John all of Topeka, two grandchildren, Katherine and Trey, and a brother, Kenneth A. Arp of DeQueen, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Shirley Cox.
Mr. Arp will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. followed by a 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Chalice Ceremony and Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Emmett, Kansas on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
