James E. Henault, 73, of Topeka, passed away, Friday, April 11, 2008 at St. Francis Health Center.
He was born August 29, 1934 in Northampton, MA the son of Edward and Evelyn LeClaire Henault. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. While serving he was an aircraft welder. James moved to Topeka in 1953 coming here from Massachusetts.
James was a welder and trucker. At the time of his retirement he was employed at Hill’s Pet Foods. After the war he worked for a number of years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in the experimental department for the United States Navy.
He was a member of Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion and was a Senior Companion Volunteer.
James is survived by; five sons, Mark Henault (Rita) of Fayetteville, GA, Greg Henault (Diane) of Topeka, Gary Henault (Kamela) of Topeka, Perry Henault (Wendy) of Tecumseh and Eddie Henault (Jennie) of Topeka, friend and companion Leetha Smith of Mayetta, four sisters, Gloria McCullough of OK, Ruth O’Brien (George) of MA, Irene O’Connor (Bill) of MA and Muriel Parker (Marion) of OK. Eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Cathedral. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW. Mr. Henault will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 p.m.
