Michael A. Laino

December 16, 1956 — April 11, 2008

Michael A. Laino, Jr. born in La Junta, CO on December 16, 1956 son of Mike and Joan Laino passed away April 11, 2008 in Topeka following an extended illness.

 

He is survived by his sisters, Lynda (Jim) Urioste of La Junta, CO and Patty (Lyn) Hartley of Lenexa, KS, aunt Frances Roe of Buena Vista, CO, uncle Philip and aunt Barbara Laino of Worchester, MA, brother-in-law Ben Owensby of Denver, CO, nieces, Kimberly Urioste Cordova (Nick) of Denver, CO, Nikki Hartley of Dallas, TX, nephews, Jimmy Urioste Jr. of Colorado Springs CO, Bennie Owensby, Jr. of Denver, CO, Brian Owensby of La Junta, CO, Chris Hartley of Highlands Ranch, CO.  Great nieces, Liana and Destiny Urioste and Kylee Cordova, great nephew Jordan Urioste and numerous cousins also survive. 

 

He was preceded in death by parents Mike and Joan Laino, sister Donna Owensby and uncle Marvin Roe.

 

Mike was transferred to Topeka in 1988 to work for the BNSF Railway.  Mike loved working for the railroad and leaves behind many wonderful friends.

 

Mike graduated from La Junta High School in 1975.  He worked for the City of La Junta prior to joining Santa Fe Railroad in the mechanical Dept.  He had twenty-five years of service with the railroad.

 

 Mike was cremated.  His wishes were for no memorial services and to be inurned in La Junta at a later date.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Helping Hands Humane Society and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.
