Paula A. Manruque

Paula A. Manrique, 97, of Topeka, passed away on April 6th at a local convalescent home.

She was born on June 29, 1910 in Guanajuato, Mexico the daughter of Angel and Felisa Rodriguez Manrique.  She was a life long resident of Topeka, attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Elementary School.  Paula was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She worked for the parish house as a housekeeper, as a waitress at the Santa Fe Cafeteria and as a laundry worker for Santa Fe Memorial Hospital. 

Paula will be remembered for her cooking, sewing and knitting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lucia Garcia and Juana Lopez Lira and a brother Joseph R. Manrique.  Paula is survived by four nephews, Augustine M. Lopez (Marilyn) of Michigan, Diego Garcia (Celestine) of Topeka, Raymond Lopez (Julieta) of Topeka, Joseph Lopez (Juana) of San Antonio and a niece Adeline Charay (Robert) of Topeka.

Paula will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday after 4:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. followed by a family rosary at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
