Rosemary Habiger

August 30, 1917 — March 9, 2008

Rosemary Habiger, 90, of Topeka passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Sweet Life of Rose Hill in Shawnee.

 

She was born August 30, 1917 in McFarland, the daughter of Morris and Mary Fry Hund.

Rosemary attended Strickler’s Business College.

 

Rosemary worked for Naval Intelligence in Washington D. C. during WW II.  She was a secretary in the Kansas Legislature for ten years before she retired.

 

She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Woman’s Club at church.

 

Rosemary was married to John F. Habiger on April 22, 1950 at Newberry.  He preceded her in death on August 26, 2007.  A son-in-law Ken McCullough, three brothers, Roman, Gilbert and Charles Hund  and a sister Helen Hund also preceded in death.

 

Survivors include; three daughters, Janet Habiger-Kennedy and her husband Curt of Cary, NC, Mary Ann McCullough of Olathe, Carol Chastain and her husband Jim of Shawnee, one brother Elmer Hund of Shawnee.  Seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Crystal, Eric, Brian, Rachel, Amanda and Michael and five great grandchildren, Will, Kenny, Kylie, Noah and Luke also survive.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Mrs. Habiger will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church sent in care of the funeral home, 800 SW 6th, 66603.
