Charles “Uncle Charlie” Mosqueda Rodarte, 89, of Topeka, passed away Friday, February 29, 2008 at Midland Hospice House. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on November 4, 1918 the son of Timoteo and Otilia Rodarte Mosqueda. Charlie worked as a server in the Restaurant business. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and enjoyed watching baseball, and feeding the birds. He married Mildred Nelson in December of 1942 in Topeka. She preceded him in death in 1989. He later married Antonia Mendez in 1990, whom also preceded him in death in 2003. Charlie is survived by a daughter Charleen Navarrete and husband Marcos Navarrete Sr. of San Leandro, California; one sister Antonia Mosqueda of Topeka, four grandchildren; Tina Rivera, Angel Rivera, Marcos Navarrete Jr. and Danny Navarrete, ten great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Rodarte and Manuel Mosqueda and by three sisters, Luz Hernandez, Ruby Rangel and Elena Rodarte. Charlie will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Monday after 4:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
