Johnnie G. Ratzlaff

Johnnie G. Ratzlaff, 94, of Topeka, died February 29, 2008 at Rolling Hills Health Center. She was born on March 22, 1913 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma the daughter of John and Dolly (Christian) Dixon. Johnnie was one of the women who helped change America’s history. During WWII she went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita as a riveter on the assembly line making B-29’s. After the war she continued to work outside the home, as a restaurant owner in Topeka and Great Bend, Kansas and retired about 1980. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend. Johnnie resided in Great Bend for over forty years before moving to Topeka in 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Twilla Standerfer McKee of Topeka and son Bobby (Carole) Standerfer of Marlow, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. Johnnie was preceded in death by her husbands, Dean H. Ratzlaff in 2004, Louis E. Bessette in 1973 and Roy Standerfer. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Steina J. Bessette in 2005 and grandsons, Eldon L. Bessette in 1992 and Bobby Standerfer Jr. in 2007. Family and friends will gather at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday prior to a procession to Mt.
