Marie Knych

August 5, 1917 — February 15, 2008

Marie T. Knych, 90, of Topeka, KS passed away Friday, February 15, 2008 at the home of her daughter.

 

Mrs. Knych was born August 5, 1917 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Joseph and Maryanna Jarosz Kezon.  She moved from Chicago to Topeka in 2006.

 

Marie volunteered for over twenty years at Northwestern Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago.  She loved knitting, crocheting, crafting and playing games with her grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Knych was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Chicago.  She currently was a member of Mater Dei Catholic Parish’s Assumption Church.

 

She was married to Edward Knych, Sr. on June 18, 1938 in Chicago.  He preceded her in death August 21, 1979.

 

Survivors include; one daughter Shirley Broadus of Topeka, KS one brother Edward Knych, Jr.  of Duluth, MN and one sister Eleanor Madeczki (Ted) of Tinley Park, IL.  Seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.

 

She was preceded in death by brothers Peter Kezon (Ann Marie), Adam Kezon (Jean), Stanley Kezon and sisters Mildred Tomaszkiewicz (Walter), Helen Tomaszkiewicz (Tom), Genevieve Dominski (Stan) and Dorothy Lachowicz-Holda-Vizio.

 

Mrs. Knych will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday where a wake service will be held at 1:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be in Chicago.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Mater Dei’s Assumption Church and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th, Topeka, KS 66603.
