Marie Penrod

November 18, 1921 — February 4, 2008

Marie A. Penrod, 86, of Topeka went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2008 at her home. She was born in Topeka, Kansas on November 18, 1921 the daughter of Michael and Pauline (Suppes) Kammer. Marie was a homemaker. She had worked for a time for American Bindery and at Morrell Packing Company. She was a long time member of Mater Dei Assumption Catholic Church. Marie was married to Lloyd L. (Dave) Penrod on August 18, 1943 in Brownwood, TX. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2004. She also was preceded in death by; a daughter Carol Bruner of Platte City, MO on November 14, 2006, sisters Genevieve “Jeannie” Kammer, Bernice Stolte and Florence Cool and a brother Francis Kammer. She is survived by; two sons Ronald Penrod of Kansas City, KS and Larry Penrod and his wife Marsha of Topeka, a son-in-law Larry Bruner of Platte City, MO, three sisters, Elizabeth Ann Riedel of Valley Falls, Sr. Sophia Kammer ASC of Wichita and Bernadine Schwindt of El Dorado. Eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mater Dei’s Assumption Church. Cremation will follow with inurnment in Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Penrod will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care or Mater Dei’s Assumption Church and sent in care of the funeral home, 800 SW 6th Ave., 66603 Online condolences to www.brennanmathenafh.com.
