Marie Theresa Garrity, 93 of Topeka, entered into eternal life Friday evening, February 1, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born the daughter of John Malachi and Elizabeth Mary Krieg Garrity on April 20, 1914 in Topeka. Marie was a 1932 graduate of Capitol Catholic High School.
Miss Garrity was employed by the Department of Defense at Forbes Air Force Base and Fort Riley for thirty-eight years prior to her retirement.
She was a long time member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Leisure Club at Church, Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503, Spalding Club, Jeffersonian Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Miss Garrity was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Galen and sister Lillian.
She is survived by her nephew Reverend G. Patrick Garrity and sister-in-law Sylvia Garrity both of Morristown, TN. Special friends Bernice Carlin, Shirley Engelken and Lillian Faught also survive.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 4:00 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of the funeral home, 800 SW 6th, Topeka 66603.
