Margarita Antonia “Margaret” Estrada, 75, of Topeka, with her family praying at her side, passed quietly into the arms of the Lord , Wednesday afternoon, January 16, 2008 at Midland Hospice House. She was born on June 13, 1932 in Lawrence, Kansas the daughter of Enrique and Nasaria ( Muñoz) Silva. She graduated from Lawrence High School. Margaret worked for KPL Western Resources and later for the State of Kansas, Department of Revenue. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and volunteered for the Fiesta for over 35 years. Margaret enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. She had several extended grandchildren, especially the nieces and nephews she helped raise. Margaret married Jose Juan Estrada in Lawrence, Kansas on April 16, 1955. He predeceased her on April 9, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters Hermina Chavez and Leonor Gonzalez and brothers Frank and Albert Alvarez. She is survived by two sons, Martin Enrique Estrada and wife Cyndi and Jose Juan Estrada II and wife Kelly, two daughters, Anna Maria “Nene” DeBusk and husband Jeff, and Lucia Maria Ortiz and husband Ruben all of Topeka; sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Margaret will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Sunday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. where an Augustinian Recollect Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
