Gaylen Bruce Stumbaugh, 48, of Topeka, died January 11, 2008 at his home. Gaylen was born on March 9, 1959 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Ralph and Agnes (Truhe) Stumbaugh Jr. He was a carpenter and roofer for most of his life. Gaylen will be remembered for his love of fishing, especially catfish and he also enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his mother, Agnes Stumbaugh of the home, two brothers, Ralph Stumbaugh III and wife Bonnie of Topeka, Mark “Tony” Stumbaugh and wife Linda of Tecumseh, a sister, Lisa Benteman and husband Jim of Topeka, three nephews; Ralph Stumbaugh IV of Hoyt, James Stumbaugh of Tecumseh and Jason Lines of Topeka; and two nieces, Wendy Stumbaugh of Collinsville, Alabama, and Shannon DeVader of Augusta, Maine. Gaylen will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Valley Falls, Kansas.
