Felipa Granado

Felipa Granado, 90, Topeka, died Friday, December 28, 2007 at Plaza West Regional Health Center.  She was born May 26, 1917 in Topeka, Kansas to Manuel Rodriguez and Rosa Reyes Del Hierro.  Felipa was a lifelong resident of Topeka.  She graduated from Capital Catholic High School and Clark’s Business College.  Felipa was a dancer in the first Mexican Fiesta in 1933.  She worked three years at the John Morrell Packing House, five years at the Topeka State Hospital and retired after 25 years from the Kansas Deparment of Health and Environment in 1977.  Mrs. Granado was a lifetime member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503, the church Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary and the Auxiliary of Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW.  She was a life long member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Felipa was married to Toribio Corona Granado on December 10, 1939 in Topeka.  He preceded her in death on  October 7, 2007.  Survivors include a daughter Ann R. DeSantiago (Juan) of Topeka and two sons Edward Granado (Veronica) of Hutchinson and Anthony Granado (Kandice) of Topeka, her grandchildren:  Priscilla Diaz (Frank), Friedrich “Freddy” Maisberger III (Shawn), all of Topeka, Elizabeth Clark (Brad)  of Carbondale; Melissa Granado, Patrick Granado, Edward Granado, Jr., Gabriel Granado, Juliana Granado and Robert Granado all of Emporia and 12 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Costello and Marie Natividad “Nattie” Serna.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Mrs. Granado will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where a Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m., Altar Society rosary at 5:30 p.m. and Parish at 6:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Medical Center, Pediatric Unit and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th, Topeka, 66603.  To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.brennanmathenafh.com.
