Mary Lou Elizabeth Gellings, 74, Topeka, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at Midland Hospice House after a year long battle with cancer.
She was born September 15, 1933 in Atchison the daughter of Leo Peter and Elizabeth Frances Ernzen Gellings. After graduating from Hayden High School, Mary Lou worked at Hallmark Cards for eighteen years. She then was employed as a lab technician at the Kansas State Board of Agriculture for thirty-three years before retiring.
Mary Lou enjoyed making quilts for all of her nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Mater Dei Catholic Parish.
Survivors include: one brother, Leo James Gellings (Barbara) of Ozawkie; two sisters, Elaine Coleman (Robert) of Jacksonville, AR and Carol McCall (Arleigh) of Berryton. Twelve nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews also survive.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mater Dei’s Assumption Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mary Lou will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
