Maye Edna LaRue, 94, of Topeka, died November 28, 2007 at Midland Hospice House. Maye was born in Topeka, Kansas on November 9, 1913 the daughter of Henry Ralph and Mabel Florence (Sickinger) Zart. She was retired from Stauffer Publications where she was in newspaper advertising from 1948 to 1961. Maye was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, a published poet, was active in church work and served on both Inauguration Committees of former Governor George Docking who served two terms in office. Mrs. LaRue was preceded in death by a son in 1962. She married Spencer Arthur LaRue in Topeka, Kansas on June 9, 1951. He survives of the home. She is also survived by three daughters, Peggy JoAnne Baker, Ruth Dorothea Wicks, and Lisa LaRue Stopps, one brother Thomas Edward Zart and two sisters, Marian R. Schwader and June Scofield, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maye will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Penwell-Gabel’s Memorial Park Cemetery.
