William G. “Bill” Berberick, 80, of Topeka, died November 14, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital.He was born on February 22, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Jacob and Catherine (Best) Berberick. ill joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Santa Fe Old Timers and was a life member of Knights of Columbus Council #534. He had formerly been active on several bowling leagues.Bill retired in December of 1986 as a Building Superintendent for Santa Fe Railway Co. where he had worked for 43 ½ years.He married Helen May Navarre at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka on September 16, 1947. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She survives. He is also survived by two daughters Theresa Tripp and husband Todd of Overland Park, Kansas and Michelle “Mitch” Lawson of Lee’s Summitt, Mo., three grandchildren, Laura Tripp, Brian Tripp and Abby Lawson, two brothers, Jim Berberick of Overland Park, Ks., and Joseph Berberick of Boise, Idaho, and four sisters, Mary Ann Belden of Arkansas, Nancy Reeb, Marsha Bartley and Tressa Malecki all of Topeka.Mr. Berberick will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday after 4:00 p.m. where the following rosaries will be prayed, Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 at 5:00 p.m., Knights of Columbus Council #534 at 6:00 p.m. and the Parish at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW.Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 West Sixth Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
